Campus Resources and System Administration
With any fine machine there is regular maintenance that must be performed to keep it running well. This is true with your computer as well. There are basic practices that every computer user should make as part of their routine when using their computer. These simple tasks will help keep your computer protected from viruses, spyware, adware, hackers, and other malicious content that will bog down your computer. One goal of this course is to equip you to be a more effective computer user. This requires you to become empowered as your own system administrator. You are the first line of defense when it comes to protecting your computer and it is your responsibility to make sure that defense is solid.
In addition, for you to effectively function on campus there are certain resources that you need to become familiar with and able to use very quickly. While there are many tools on the network, the resources outlined in this chapter will be used over and over again through all four years of your college career.
