quota

There is a limited amount of space available to you for your Eos/Unity account. Due to the ever decreasing price of hard drives, the amount available to you may increase during your time at NC State. However, this is not a guarantee, and it is very easy to fill up the space allotted to you. For this reason, it is useful to be able to see how much of your disk quota you are using and how much you have left. You can do this using the quota command. It displays information about your account quota.

Syntax

eos% quota

Example

The quota command will display information similar to the following output:

Volume Name Quota Used % Used Partition
users.jschmoe 40000 16488 41% 60%

The "Volume Name" is the volume that your account space is located in. Most of the time you don't really care about this information and are only interested in the "Quota" and the "Used" sections. "Quota" tells you how many kilobytes of disk space are reserved for you account. "Used" tells you how much of that space you have used. The "% Used" is simply the ratio of "Used" and "Quota" given in a percentage.

The "Partition" information refers to the overall partition that your files are located on. You shouldn't have to worry about that number.
