Course Workspace Lockers
Faculty in the College of Engineering may request additional quota for their students when a course's file-storage requirements exceed what students have in their Unity file space.
This augmented quota is provided free of charge in a separate "workspace" locker for each student in the course. It is not added to the student's Unity account quota (see also, how to increase file storage space in your Unity account).
The course workspace locker can be set up with space for individual students, shared space for teams, and a common space that permits read/copy access by all students in the class.
Procedure for Requesting Course Workspace
- REQUEST A WOLFWARE LOCKER for each course that you wish to augment with student workspace. Wolfware provides ITECS with student Unity IDs for creating the workspace volumes.
- REQUEST A COURSE WORKSPACE LOCKER. Only instructors in the College of Engineering with Wolfware lockers can request course workspace for students in their classes.
You will be notified by email when the space is set up.
Path to Course Workspace Lockers
Course workspace lockers are created on a per-section basis and accessed by the path:
/afs/eos/lockers/workspace/[dept]/[course]/[section]

Important Notes!
- See more on Course Workspace Lockers at Engineering Locker Model Technical Specifications.
- Course workspace lockers are non-web file space only and separate from WolfWare lockers. Course workspace lockers reside in engineering AFS file space/servers, NOT in Wolfware file space/servers, see Diagrams of Engineering and Wolfware Lockers. The course workspace locker has no automated tools associated with it. It is file storage only.
- Workspace is available for the semester in which the course is taught and has the same turn on/off dates as WolfWare. Any data that students wish to save from their workspace lockers must be copied to other file space or media before the end of the semester.
- Content in workspace lockers is not archived. If faculty need to preserve any of this content for purposes of assessment, accreditation, portfolios, etc., they need to make their own copies or contact eoshelp@ncsu.edu to secure another storage locker.
- Backups are made daily and kept for 23 days, but you should save regularly to external media and know the procedures for restoring lost files.
- Please contact eoshelp@ncsu.edu for assistance.
