Intel is releasing new processors ("Ivy Bridge") at the end of April or in early May. They are purported to be more power-efficient and offer better performance for integrated graphics. This will lead to laptop manufacturers upgrading their specs. The timing is a bit inconvenient for the academic market, so here's how we plan to deal with that.

Recommended Models and Specs for Fall 2012

We have posted our recommended laptops for Fall 2012 on our Buying a New Laptop page. Based on our positive experiences over the years, we are again selecting models from Apple, Lenovo and Dell to be included as recommended computers. Apple models are currently available; we are working on pricing for the Dell and Lenovo models. You will be able to order these models beginning in May. Our recommended specs for both new and currently owned computers have been updated as well.
