Using Financial Aid

If you have applied for financial aid and anticipate purchasing a computer, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) can include the cost of a computer when considering you for financial aid only if you purchase the computer during the summer (June 1 or later) preceding your fall enrollment or after the fall semester begins. Confirm the delivery date with the vendor before committing to the purchase. The OSFA web site provides more information on this process. Generally, only federal and private loan assistance is available to cover the cost of this purchase. For more information, see NCSU Financial Aid for Computer Purchasing.

The form for requesting financial aid to cover the purchase of computers and PDAs is located here.

Specific information on loans and comparisons of lenders are available from the OSFA. They have set up a special web page dealing with financial aid; click here and scroll down to the section on loans. Please contact OSFA to discuss the option that is best for you.
