Recommended Specifications for Laptops - Fall 2008

All of our recommended laptops will meet the minimum specifications below, though some might need a RAM upgrade added to the base model. If you do not purchase a recommended laptop through the Bookstore, make sure that it meets the following recommended specifications.

Some components can be upgraded at a later date, such as system RAM or the hard drive. However, many laptop components are NOT upgradable, such as the processor and video card/video RAM. For this reason, it's a good idea to go with higher-end components for these parts in your initial laptop purchase.

Note: The Industrial & Systems Engineering and Textile Engineering departments primarily focus on Windows-based applications; thus, faculty are encouraging students enrolled in these curricula to consider purchasing a Windows-based laptop computer.
