Getting Help

It is never convenient to have computer trouble, but when something does goes wrong, we are here to help.

On-Campus Resources

There are two main places on campus where engineering students can get help from full-time technical staff:

A campus-wide Walk-In Center provides technical support for all NC State students. Walk-in services for the Help Desk are part of the Technology and Media Services Support Center, located in 101 West Dunn Building. The West Dunn Building is located on the corner of Dan Allen Drive and Thurman Drive (see map to right), convenient to many residence halls.

In Fall 2009, there will be an on-campus repair technician authorized to work on IBM and Lenovo ThinkPads as well as Apple computers, as long as the laptops are still under warranty. This service will be available in the Walk-In Center.

Engineering students can also receive technical assistance at the ITECS Help Desk in 204 Daniels Hall. The ITECS Help Desk supports the College of Engineering's computing environment and its users, including installation of selected software used in the college. It is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Around-the-clock (24/7) help is also available from consultants in 203 and 226 Daniels.

Manufacturers

We have good relationships with the vendors whose models we recommend and can assist in escalating or expediting the service they provide.

Even if you do not have a recommended model, we will provide you with as much help and diagnostic information as we can to help you get up and running again.
